Intelligence and degree no longer the only predictors of success in the workplace
Knowing what to do when you don't know what to do
For years, HR professionals have tried to predict whether someone will be successful on the job. Often, these professionals decide based on someone's competencies, knowledge, motivation or intelligence. Will this new hire fit within the team? Will there be a match with the job content, the direct manager or the company? How will this employee perform over time and grow within their expertise? All considerations that HR need to consider before a hiring decision can be made.
What if the current market situation changes drastically? What if positions change continuously or the field of work evolves or disappears? What should HR do in such - not so exceptional - situations. Do they just look for new people to fill these roles? These positions are already so difficult to fill and functions or sectors keep changing at lightning speed. It is like fighting a losing battle for the HR department. So based on what parameters do you predict whether someone will be successful?
Agile talents with great learning ability
Agile employees or people with great learning ability are individuals who are able to adapt easily to changing or new situations. They have the ability or capabilities to develop new effective behaviours quickly and flexibly based on new experience and to apply those behaviours successfully.
If HR manage to recruit profiles with such soft skills, they can grow with the job, company or sector. After all, they handle change smoothly and can adapt to a new situation.
Thalento® launches a powerful weapon in war for talent: the Learning Agility Assessment
In these rapidly changing times, measuring Learning Agility is a powerful predictor of success in the workplace. In the future, the ability to adapt quickly to new situations and learn effectively from previous experiences will become increasingly important.
The assessment consists of two parts and takes about 15 minutes. The report describes all five pillars using STen scores, which are normalised scores ranging from 1 (very low) to 10 (very high). To put it less technically: we will compare your Learning Agility with that of the working population in Belgium, where a high score reflects that you have more agility or learning ability than average.
This gives a clear overview of which parts achieved good or less good scores. There is also a summary that highlights some of the candidate's strengths as well as some development tips to encourage the employee to continue developing themself. With these development tips, it is also possible to start a learning process.
